Show HN: Domain Search MCP – AI-powered domain availability checker (github.com/dorukardahan)
6 points by dorukardahan 16 days ago | hide | past | favorite | 4 comments
MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that lets AI assistants check domain availability in real-time.

Features: - Multi-source: Porkbun, Namecheap, RDAP, WHOIS - Price comparison across registrars - Social handle checking (GitHub, Twitter, npm, etc.) - Premium domain detection with pricing insights

Works with any MCP-compatible client.

Install: npx -y domain-search-mcp

I’ve tried different domain mcps in the past with limited success. Each time I found a good domain and went to register it I found it had premium pricing and was like $500++

Curious if this has anything setup to avoid that?

Sometimes searching for a domain and not buying shortly after prompts a domain broker to snatch it up because they figure if someone is interested in enough to search for it, they want to own it so they can profit if you come back and want it later.

Hey HN! I built this because I got tired of context-switching between AI assistants and domain registrars while brainstorming project names.

Now I just ask "Is coolproject.com available?" and get instant results with pricing from multiple sources.

Technical details: - TypeScript + Zod validation - 98 tests, security audited - LRU cache with TTL - Rate limiting per registrar

Happy to answer any questions about the architecture or MCP in general!
