When my oldest child was younger, we had a gas stove with a microwave above the stove that vented back into the house.

Always had a persistent cough.

Moved to a house with a hood that vents outside. Now still gets seasonal allergies, but persistent cough is gone.

Correlated? I can't say. But now we always vent when using our stove/oven.
