All live-action remakes need to be compared to the baseline of just literally re-releasing the original animated film in theaters.

And there's a huge difference between "release a live-action retelling of a 60 year old movie" and "release a shot-for-shot remake of a much younger movie".


They offhandedly mention 101 Dalmations and say it wasn't a success but it was profitable enough to get a squeal.
