For those of you intrigued by these watercolors, I highly recommend The Food Explorer by Daniel Stone about the botanist, David Fairchild, who is credited with introducing most of the foods we eat today to this country, starting in the 1890s. Many of the watercolors in the exhibit are the samples he and the other food explorers brought back to this country from their world travels. After reading this book, you will never look at the produce aisles in a grocery store in the same frame of mind again. A marvelous, remarkable read...

Learn from the Stoics ----- https://dailystoic.com, https://virtualmmx.ddns.net/gbooks/AGuidetotheGoodLifeTheAnc... in a nutshell, the philosophy is, the purpose of life is to be happy, you attain that by having purpose in your life, so that in the end, you have no regrets, to savor every moment because one day you won't be here to, to always be kind, and to always remember that fame and fortune are not what make you happy.I myself, have found that having good friendships and something meaningful to do as a job are most important, and work involving helping people and/or volunteering is very satisfying. I also find this website about choosing careers intriguing: https://80000hours.org

Update: Mayor Watson just shelved the Zilker Vision Plan.

The film had been on YouTube--I simply had used a Google search to get to the trailer. A new version of the film has been uploaded now--though the questions about Austin's mayor and city council remain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NwJLvfPsYE

Costco is the largest distributor of hearing aids in the U.S., there are good terms on checkups and adjustments and replacements. Their prices are significantly below going to an audiologist--a coupleof years ago, their house brand cost $1500 for a pair of hearing aids.

The only thing left on YouTube of this documentary about the proposed development of Austin's Zilker Park is its trailer--someone told YouTube that the content violated copyright law, but the content is just a city meeting filled with citizen protests.

There a wonderful book that might spark his imagination--The Story of Inventions by Anna Claybourne---how almost anything you can think of was invented---an inexpensive copy can usually be found on abebooks.com

The real problem in our health care system is private equity trying to profit off of it, not improve healthcare. It is well-documented that whenever the government is billed, the business model is to overcode and pocket 40% of the money. Physicians For a National Plan (PNHP) think the answer is a single payer healthcare system.
