Lots of cope here. Highly paid white collar jobs are going to disappear.

I fear this kind of experimentation will soon by killed by ai.

$5k machine for developers to just run claude code while they browse Reddit.

With an additional $200/month subscription from Anthropic, because they noticed that the Kimi K2.5 they were able to run on their M5 comes nowhere close to matching Opus 4.6.

It's Qwen3.5 now, you're a bit behind the times.

This is a nice sentiment and all but the issue is that I need to make money to pay for goods and services.

This is great but irrelevant in the age of ai.

So if being a developer means not making good money, and not actually writing code, what is the appeal?

Good developers will be more productive with AI so I don’t think they won’t make good money.

Bad developers shouldn’t be in the industry anyways.

Kids won’t flock to the industry just for the money anymore, and that’s how it should be.

Time to get a new job.

There aren't going to be senior engineers in the future.

If you still don't think software engineering as a high paying job is over, I don't know what to tell you.

My counterargument: https://agifriday.substack.com/p/jevons

Short version: Jevons's paradox means that the more coding you automate away for developers (like with compilers in the past), the more in-demand those developers are. (Until AGI when all bets are off, of course.)

It might be over in the future, but it's still fine for the next few years at the minimum.

It's high paying?
